Democracy on IRC

If you are a rights activist, one who believes in equality then you might be very offended by Internet Relay Chat. Are we really equal there? There is this guy called the operator (plural sometimes) who plays god there. Aren't we all at the mercy of this guy? And sometimes he really gets to your nerves. You cannot do anything except accept that he is god there. Its one reason why I hate IRC now. IRC is a novel concept and is a great forum for meeting people and also to discuss you problems, technical ones too. For example the #linux channel is an excellent place to be if you want some help with Linux. And barring the undemocratic "Super User" this is a great place. I have seen many people complaining against this. But I have seen many more who never thought of it. Dont you think that in this powerful forum, there should be some equality. If you ask me, "Then how do we enforce some behaviour?", the majority always decides. For example, if more than half of the people put a person on ignore, then he can be expelled. I dont know what prompted me to write this. Anyway I never felt comfortable with the OP around monitoring the hall! If you use IRC a lot, and that you feel that this, or atleast part of this is correct, send me a mail. We'll try to do something.
